Bent u twee jaar ziek? Dan kunt u via UWV (Uitvoeringsinstituut Werknemersverzekeringen) een WIA-uitkering krijgen als u 35 procent of meer arbeidsongeschikt bent. U kunt dan minder dan 65 procent van uw inkomen verdienen. WIA staat voor Wet werk en inkomen naar arbeidsvermogen. De WIA regelt uw inkomen als u na twee jaar ziekte minder of niet kunt werken.
Financiële prikkel
Bij WIA staat werken centraal. Het gaat er niet om wat u niet meer kan, maar juist wat u nog wel kan. Met financiële prikkels stimuleert de overheid de (gedeeltelijk) arbeidsongeschikte werknemer om nog zoveel mogelijk inkomen te verdienen.
Wanneer kan ik een WIA-uitkering aanvragen?
U kunt een WIA-uitkering aanvragen als u bijna twee jaar ziek bent. Uiterlijk in de 91e week van ziekte moet u de WIA-aanvraag indienen bij UWV. Doet u dit niet? Dan kunt u zonder inkomen te komen zitten. Na twee jaar ziekte stopt namelijk de verplichting van uw werkgever om uw loon door te betalen. Of uw Ziektewetuitkering stopt.

Vervroegde WIA-uitkering
Is het al eerder duidelijk dat u helemaal niet meer kan werken? Ook niet in de toekomst? Dan kunt u na drie weken ziekte een vervroegde WIA-uitkering aanvragen. Na 68 weken is het niet meer mogelijk om deze vervroegde uitkering aan te vragen.
Welke uitkering krijg ik vanuit de WIA?
Kunt u na twee jaar ziekte minder of niet volledig werken? Dan wordt u gekeurd door UWV. UWV beoordeelt dan hoeveel u nog kunt verdienen. Op grond hiervan bepaalt UWV in hoeverre u arbeidsongeschikt bent. Dit wordt uitgedrukt in een percentage van arbeidsongeschiktheid.
Er kunnen vier uitkomsten zijn:
U bent minder dan 35 procent arbeidsongeschikt. U krijgt dan geen uitkering
U bent tussen de 35 en 80 procent arbeidsongeschikt. U krijgt dan een WGA-uitkering.
WGA staat voor Werkhervatting Gedeeltelijk Arbeidsgeschikten
U bent tussen de 80 en 100 procent arbeidsongeschikt maar u kunt in de toekomst nog wel weer werken. U krijgt dan ook een WGA-uitkering
U bent tussen de 80 en 100 procent arbeidsongeschikt maar de kans is klein dat u in de toekomst nog weer kunt werken. U krijgt dan een IVA-uitkering. IVA staat voor Inkomensvoorziening Volledig Arbeidsongeschikten
